Lawton, OK, November 22, 2023 – Numunu Staffing, LLC places Quality Control Assistant in mentorship program aimed at job training for Comanche tribal members in partnership with Numunu Construction.

Numunu Staffing CEO, George Tahdooahnippah said, “It is very important that tribal members have an opportunity for meaningful career development within our businesses and within our tribe. I am very delighted that the Numunu team is able to offer employment for fellow tribal members and we look to build on this for many years to come. This will be the start of our Tribal Management program, which will allow tribal members to be shadow managers of existing managers, until they have the experience and expertise to be ready for full management responsibilities. Construction and government contracting is particular in having specific construction experience on federal facilities. This is our first step for building that experience.”

October 25, 2023, Lawton, OK – Numunu Staffing, LLC recently was awarded their first 8(a) Sole Source contract with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in New Orleans, LA, for construction of Drinking Water Infrastructure Improvements – Water Meter Replacement in Ascension Parish, LA. “This is the beginning of the Numunu Group, and we can’t wait to grow this company and bring more revenue with the goal of returning dividend payments back to the people,” said Numunu Staffing, CEO, George Tahdooahnippah.

Numunu Staffing has been working diligently to secure 8(a) sole source opportunities since becoming an 8(a) participant. Lawton, OK, May 20, 2022 – Numunu Staffing, LLC announces their certification in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 8(a) Business Development (BD) Program.

In FY2020, 8(a) firms were awarded $34.0 billion in federal contracts, including $9.3 billion in 8(a) set aside awards and $11.1 billion in 8(a) sole-source awards. The 9-year SBA 8(a) program also offers training, tools, resources, and contracting vehicles to grant 8(a) designated businesses access to federal contracts, often in a non-competitive, sole-source or set-a-side environment.

Lawton, Oklahoma : On February 1, 2022, the first North American Indigenous Athletics Hall of Fame (NAIAHF) awardees were announced. George “Comanche Boy” Tahdooahnippah, Comanche tribal member and winner of four middleweight boxing championship titles was amongst the athletes recognized.

“Comanche Boy,” a husband and father of 5, launched his boxing career in 2004. “When I started on this journey, nobody believed in me. But I kept going,” said Tahdooahnippah. Today, his boxing titles include: 2008 Native American Boxing Council’s Super Middleweight Champion, 2011 World Boxing Council’s Continental Americas Middleweight Champion, 2012 North American Boxing Association’s US Middleweight Champion, and 2014 Oklahoma Super Middleweight Boxing Champion.

He has also been recognized as 2011’s Top 40 under 40 Native American Entrepreneur, Goodwill Ambassador Award from the World Boxing Council for his fight against diabetes, and the American Indian Exposition’s 2012 Celebrity Indian of the Year award.

Tahdooahnippah worked hard to represent the Comanche people. He had the largest fan base in Oklahoma and was accompanied into the ring with Native American Fancy War Dancers in full regalia, drums pounding from Native American Drum groups, and Native American Rappers. Tahdooahnippah said, “No fighter in the world brought what I brought to the ring.”

Comanche Boy’s showmanship didn’t stop there – he was well known for knocking out his opponents with his power punching, and especially for his post knockout victory war dance.

Tahdooahnippah built a nine-year 31-0 boxing career before his first loss. He fought four ESPN fights including one undercard, HBO pay per view fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. “This has been the highest honor I carried as a professional fighter and I did my best representing my Native American people,” said Tahdooahnippah.

“Comanche Boy” retired from boxing in 2016 with a record of 34 wins, 3 losses, 3 draws and 2 no contests. Today he continues to fight for his people as Acting CEO of Comanche Nation Enterprises, CEO of Comanche Nation Construction and CEO of Numunu Staffing. He works to diversify and grow the tribe’s economy, develop the tribe’s workforce, actively employ and mentor’s tribal members, and develop future Tribal leaders. The companies he leads employ a nearly 70% Native American staff.

Lawton, OK – December 15, 2021 — Numunu Staffing, LLC is wholly owned by the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma and is a Comanche Nation Enterprise, Inc. entity. The Lawton, OK-based start-up launched during a global pandemic with very little initial financing, a passionate staff of dedicated tribal members, and the idea that a for-profit tribally owned staffing company could prioritize recruiting and placing candidates in rural Oklahoma, empowering tribal members to find meaningful employment, and generate profits for the tribe.

“Reflecting on our ups and downs over the past 12 months, I can honestly say, I’m proud of how far we’ve come, what we’ve learned and our outlook for 2022 – it hasn’t been easy, but it’s definitely been worth it,” said George Tahdooahnippah, CEO of Numunu Staffing, LLC

The initial team, George Tahdooahnippah, CEO, Steven Riley Mowatt, COO and Edward Tahhahwah, Lead Talent Recruiter built the company’s database of candidates; and with the help of their first few clients, Comanche Nation Construction, Comanche Nation Entertainment (Operating 5 casinos in Oklahoma), and the Comanche Nation Housing Authority, the team got their first placements.

A year later, the firm boasts multiple blanket purchase agreements with the US Department of Health and Human Services, Indian Health Services division (IHS) in Oklahoma, the City of Oklahoma City, the State of Oklahoma (in partnership with Excel Medical Staffing), Sigma Foods/Bar-S, Banc First and others.

When asked why he took on the challenge of launching a start-up business, Steven Riley Mowatt, COO of Numunu Staffing said, “This was an opportunity to serve our people and community in an impactful way. Numunu Staffing’s success focuses on the economic and workforce development of Native Americans and our communities across Oklahoma.”

Since it’s launch, Numunu Staffing has placed over 70 people, of which over 60% are enrolled tribal members.

Edward Tahhahwah, Lead Talent Recruiter at Numunu Staffing added, “From an economic perspective, when we keep money recirculating in the tribal economy, the value of that money grows exponentially. For example, when we put a Comanche Tribal member to work in Lawton, they live, shop, and have children in school in Lawton. The money they earn is primarily recirculated in the economy here – it is spent repeatedly in our community. The same is true for Numunu Staffing’s profits. Our profits are returned to the tribe to fund education, economic development, and other social programs – staying within the community. When non-tribal government owned businesses earn profits from the work they do for the tribe or tribal businesses, they keep it and most of it leaves our community and our tribe.”

“The work we do is very satisfying,” said Ashley Joslyn, Recruiting Manager. “We help tribal and non-tribal members find and retain meaningful employment — empowering them to support their families and improve the quality of their lives,” she added. “The work does have its frustrating moments – 30-40% of applicants ghost us after setting up an interview and although that number is trending downward, it still happens. Numunu Staffing Partners with Excel Medical Staffing for Big Wins with IHS

Numunu Staffing, in partnership with Excel Medical Staffing, is excited to announce winning its second and third Indian Health Services (IHS) award (blanket purchase agreements or BPAs). Numunu Staffing is now able to staff Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for all IHS facilities in Oklahoma.

In August of this year, the partnership received is first win from IHS to staff Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to IHS’s Oklahoma clinics and hospitals.
